Our Story

Hi! We are Tic and Tyc. We’re the brothers behind the Tic & Tyc Delivery Service. We provide a convenient, safe way for you to buy locally-sourced, sustainable products, at a reasonable price. We live on our family’s acreage near Calgary, Alberta, where we have animals and raise chickens for eggs. So we know what it’s like to get our hands (and often our feet, too!) dirty.

How did we start?

We were on a family trip to Vancouver in 2018 when we went to visit the Vancouver Aquarium. It’s a cool place, with lots of amazing things to do and animals to see. However, one thing that really bothered us was the stories of animals eating the plastic garbage found in the world’s oceans. They often die from eating this garbage. Dumped or left by people who don’t realize (or don’t care), it has an incredible impact on the health of our ocean and our wildlife.

We knew we had to figure out a way to help. We decided to start our business so we could show people a different way of doing things. Ways to reduce their waste, make better, more sustainable buying decisions, and “save the wild”.

What makes Tic & Tyc different from other grocery delivery services?

  • We help our neighbours by supporting their farms and greenhouses.
  • We help people eat better, locally-grown, sustainable food.
  • We support local businesses with similar values of sustainability and community
  • We help small businesses develop products without harmful chemicals and additives.
  • We’re part of the next generation and we’re on a mission to save the earth.

Our first sales were reusable Stainless Steel straws – because plastic straws are one of the biggest causes of ocean pollution that hurt our environment and the animals that live in it.

Since then, we’ve expanded to many other products.

When COVID-19 hit, people stopped going to stores and restaurants as much. There were (and still are) many farmers in Alberta who needed a new way to sell the food they grew. Farmers near where we live were struggling. We believed we could help them.

These days, people want to support local businesses. Knowing who grows your food and where it comes from (and what goes into growing it) has become very important. And for many, there is still the challenge of physically getting your groceries. People who were sick (immuno-compromised) or just worried about getting sick now order their groceries online.

That’s when we came up with the idea of home delivery for locally-produced groceries. Because they’re grown here, they don’t travel as far to get to your dinner table, so they have less impact on our environment. And they are delicious and organic, so you don’t have to worry about harmful chemicals. Everyone wins.

    What we value:

Community is very important to us. Our family believes in supporting our community – whether it’s where you physically live or the organizations you belong to or volunteer with.

A portion of each purchase you make is donated to organizations we support:

We are excited to be part of keeping our world healthy and clean. Thanks for helping us save the earth!

      What People Are Saying

“I used to go to the grocery store and occasionally some farmers’ markets for produce. Then COVID hit and Tic & Tyc started their delivery service. This was very helpful for me because I have people in my life who are at higher risk and I needed to limit the number of people I came into contact with.

With Tic & Tyc, I don’t have to compromise. I get quality products and affordable pricing while supporting local businesses and I don’t have to leave the house. I also wanted to support the boys in their endeavor – learning about starting a business, providing customer service, and marketing. And I get the products I need anyway, so I thought that was a bonus. I highly recommend Tic & Tyc if you’re looking for quality, affordable and convenient shopping & delivery with truly local produce.” – Janeen Wetzstein
